We conduct seminars on the judicial application process and encourage Chinese American and Asian Pacific American attorneys to seek judicial appointments. For the first time, this past year we also conducted a primer on political appointments to educate our members about non-judicial appointment opportunities. Moreover, in conjunction with the Asian Pacific American Women Lawyers’ Alliance, SCCLA co-sponsored a Judges’ Tea to permit sitting judges to share their experiences about the bench and the appointment process in an informal setting.
Beyond education and encouragement within our ranks, we meet with state political leaders to promote those appointments. Our members also serve on the LACBA judicial appointments and evaluation committees.
